Current Training & Workshops
I offer training opportunities throughout the year with workshops that are designed to provoke, engage and ultimately be practical in their contribution to practice.
You can expect an experiential, nature-based approach to the teaching, where discussion, practice, and theory are all delivered, where possible, in an outdoor setting. During the winter months or if raining, workshops (with the exception of ‘Therapy Whilst Walking’) will be held indoors.

An upgraded version of the popular workshop ‘therapy whilst walking’, this immersive training runs over a full weekend (Saturday & Sunday, 10:30 – 16:30 on each day).
Designed for qualified Counsellors who are interested in leaving the armchair behind and moving towards a Walking Therapy practice.
I have expanded the experiential element of the learning and we will look at the psychological and therapeutic benefits of working outdoors, as well as focusing on the practical, ethical and business implications.
As part of the work will venture out, either along the canal in Hythe, or up towards the seafront, so you will need to bring your walking shoes and depending on the time of year, warm/waterproof clothes!
Dates: 14th Mar 2020 FULLY BOOKED or 20th Jun 2020 PLACES AVAILABLE Cost: £40/person For: Qualified / Trainee Counsellors CPD: 4 hours
Existential Counselling draws ideas from the philosophy that shares the same name (funnily enough!) It offers a framework for understanding human motivation, growth and the inevitable sense of ‘stuckness’ and anxiety that we all experience as human beings.
Less a structured, prescriptive model, the approach instead draws from several fundamental philosophical beliefs to form a lens through which we can, to the best of our ability, make sense of our existence.
This brief introduction will also look at how the ideas can be applied in practice and what they might mean in terms of YOUR work and the theoretical lens that you lean towards.
Dates: 29 Aug 2020 PLACES AVAILABLE Cost: £25/person (min group of 4) For: L3/L4 Trainees CPD: 6 hours
Please note: This is a more generic version of my academic support. If you are looking for bespoke training experience, please visit this page.
A workshop designed to support you when studying for a Counselling qualification (up to level 4).
I have been training Counsellors since 2013 and decided to develop this workshop to support two types of student. Firstly, to support those who have a had a break from education and need to familiarise themselves with academic writing and assessment in further education, and secondly, those who are comfortable in education and need to adjust to the unique way in which Counselling is taught.
We will cover the fundamental elements that are required to not only survive the training but to truly make the most of the experience!
Subjects covered include:
- Writing reflective journals at depth and understanding the benefits of reflective writing
- Structuring your assignments
- Understanding criteria and instructional working (explain, describe, evaluate, etc.)
- Referencing (why, how and when)
- Defining, engaging in and making the most of process group (aka Experiential group)
